Uniform material removal
Even on asymmetrical workpieces
Spiro Match was developed for workpieces with significantly different surface area ratios between the top and bottom sides. The function automatically adjusts the grinding parameters to the component geometry, thereby supporting a uniform material removal on both sides.
This shortens process development time, reduces scrap, and increases stability, even when the cutting performance of the grinding wheels changes during the ongoing process.
The challenge
- Different surface areas on the top and bottom make double-sided fine grinding more difficult.
- Grinding wheel speeds are currently adjusted manually via the HMI.
- Until optimal parameters are found, 3–4 batches may become scrap.
- If the cutting performance of the grinding wheel changes, parameter tuning often must start over.
The new function
- Analyzes the load on the drives directly during the process.
- Supports rapid adjustment of the speed ratio to ensure uniform material removal on both sides.
- Reduces manual setup effort and makes process optimization significantly more efficient.
- Helps to return more quickly to a stable process state even when the cutting performance changes.
Ideal for demanding geometries
Components whose underside has significantly more contact or grinding surface than the top side.
The new Spiro Match technology is not only available for new machines but can also be retrofitted to existing Supfina Spiro machines.
