Plunge Superfinishing
Superior workpiece quality in regards to load bearing capacity, efficiency, smoothness of running, operational safety, and, last but not least, longevity, requires superior surface finishing of these workpieces. By logical extension, this means continuous adaptation and optimization of existing production processes.

Workpieces for plunge finishing

For many of these workpieces, plunge finishing is an economical process. For these types of components, Supfina offers a large number of Superfinishing machines, which can easily be integrated into your production processes. They are economical and give your workpieces the "final touch".

This makes the Superfinishing process, which is typically the last and therefore the quality-determining process, ever more important. Plunge Superfinishing allows the targeted influencing of the following parameters:

  • Reduction of surface peak-to-valleys
  • Increase of material contact area to over 90%, due to plateau-like surface structures
  • Improved microgeometries in regards to roundness, waviness, and related parameters (such as roundness and parallelism)
  • Optimization of tribological properties as well as emergency running properties through criss-crossing finishing marks (cross-grinding).

Examples of plunge Superfinishing, along with our production solutions, are presented on the following pages:

Supfina CenFlex 1 und CenFlex 2
Supfina CenFlex Superfinishingof crankshafts, camshafts, transmission shafts, and balancing shafts with band tools

Our flexible solutions for the automotive industry and its suppliers.

Minimum change-over times, maximum availability, and extraordinary flexibility are key features of the machines of the Cenflex series. The Cenflex1 is especially suited for sample / prototype design, for refinishing, and for repairs of the aforementioned workpiece types. The Cenflex2 is the logical extension of the Cenflex1. It was designed specifically for use in flexible production lines (e.g., of suppliers) as well as for the manufacturing of motorsport components.

Supfina MultiTool
Supfina MultiTool Superfinishing of camshafts, transmission shafts, and balancing shafts with stone and/or band tools

The Supfina MultiTool is designed for the serial production of smaller shafts, such as camshafts for passenger cars/motor cycles, pump camshafts, excentric shafts, transmission or balancing shafts.Superfinishing machines with particularly small footprints facilitate simultaneous finishing of narrowly spaced bearing seats or cams with a single chuck. The symmetrical machine design and standardized tools make for rapid and ergonomical tool-exchanges and change-overs.The integrated workpiece shuttle allows for parallel-cycle machine loading and for universal interlacing possibilities.
